The Path for Empath - Koi to Wajah Rahi Hogi

It takes a massive toll to constantly be the shock absorber for everyone else while carrying your own baggage without a spotter

Let’s get one thing straight: being an empath is less like having a magical superpower and more like having 74 browser tabs open in your brain, and all of them are blasting someone else’s emotional background score. If life were a movie, we empaths desperately want to believe we are the effortlessly cool James Bond of emotional intelligence. But in reality? We’re basically Aman from Kal Ho Naa Ho running around trying to fix everybody’s chaotic lives, smiling through our own exhaustion, and secretly hoping someone, anyone, will offer us a metaphorical glass of water before the end credits roll. Here is the exhausting truth: you spend an Inception-level amount of mental energy analyzing the people you love. You notice when your best friend’s text tone shifts by half a decibel. You spend three business days planning how to bring up a sensitive topic so it lands softer than a romance sequence. You think about them. So muchhhhhhhhhhhhh But here’s the plot twist that nobody warned us about: no one is thinking even quarter as much about you. While you are out here playing 4D emotional chess, they are happily playing Snakes & Ladders. But man, does it sting when your custom-tailored, soul-deep care package is met with a generic thumbs-up emoji. Because you are the ever-accommodating - the one who says, "Oh no, standing in the rain for two hours is totally fine!" you inadvertently become the ultimate safety net. And let’s be honest, nobody checks on the safety net unless they are currently plummeting towards it. You become the Circuit to their Munna Bhai. Essential? Absolutely. Valued? Sure, whenever there's a crisis. But usually, you are the absolute last choice when it comes to who gets the prime weekend slot. Remember that iconic exchange? Munna: "Circuit, ek baat bata... human body mein kitni haddi hoti hai?" ( Circuit, how many bones do we have in Human body) Circuit: "206, Bhai."

Well, if Munna Bhai asked Circuit the empath - the answer would be slightly different. Bhai ! Mera dil to silently 206 baar crack hota hai ( Brother ! My heart breaks exactly 206 times a day just from being the dependable afterthought)

You realize you've penciled everyone into your life with a VIP, backstage-access status, but you are left sitting in the nosebleed section of their priority list. It hurts. You want to be mad. You want to flip a table like a reality TV housewife. But you don't. Because your brain immediately defaults to its favorite, most exhausting coping mechanism. Yes……..the empath’s ultimate defense mechanism. The emotional equivalent of sweeping dust under a very expensive rug. When your subtle cry for help is completely ignored, your brain immediately starts doing free PR for the people who let you down - the cliched yet true "Koi to wajah rahi hogi." (There must have been a reason). Instead of accepting the bitter pill that maybe, just maybe, they didn't care enough to prioritize you in that moment, you invent excuses for them, just so you don't have to face the disappointment of being left hanging. You give them the grace they never even asked for. It takes a massive toll to constantly be the shock absorber for everyone else while carrying your own baggage without a spotter. So, the next time you catch yourself whispering "Koi to wajah rahi hogi" to excuse someone treating you like a backup plan, take a deep breath. Stop writing their script, and for the love of all things holy, close a few of those browser tabs. You need the RAM for yourself.
