Every girl needs her tribe
Given my introvert and wallflower nature, I have a limited circle of close-knit girlfriends. This gang of girls is cherished more than my ring collection — and those who know me are already shaking their heads.
Given my introvert and wallflower nature I have a limited circle of close-knit girlfriends. This gang of girls I have is cherished more than my ring collection (those who know me are already shaking their heads).
They are people who I crossed paths with either at work or in hostel and never did I think they would become such an integral part of my life. Over the years my circle kept shrinking with me moving around like a nomad, but there were a select few who stayed with me always. And though we may not talk often, as they said in Grey's Anatomy — "If I murdered someone, she's the person I'd call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. She's my person."
My gang would come running to me in such a situation — with ideas and of course assuring me that it is all ok and breathe!
Because dear reader, every time I am stuck, depressed, need a sounding board, finish that crazy work project, need a quick recipe, need to borrow that perfect LBD, break into Bollywood song, or in short go about my normal or abnormal day — I have one or all of these girls around me virtually as my pillar of support.
A third of my girlfriends are from work and if not for them I would be pulling my hair each time there was a difficult situation or I needed a different perspective.
Don't the gang of girls judge you? Oh yes! They do. But never has it stopped them from being there for you. You get a sit-down feedback session which is so in your face at times that you wonder — are these really people who love me? But it ain't love if you are not shown your true face.
Find your tribe. Love them hard. And never, ever take them for granted.
To my girls — you know who you are. Thank you for everything.
